Katie was born and raised in the same West Toledo neighborhood where she lives today. Her mom is a retired Toledo Public Schools teacher and her dad worked for the City of Toledo. They raised Katie union proud and taught her the importance of good governance and hard working public servants. She remains involved with her alma maters Blessed Sacrament and Central Catholic.
Katie is married to Phil, her personal hero and a lieutenant on the Toledo Fire and Rescue Department at Fire Station #6 in East Toledo. They will celebrate their 9 year anniversary this June. Phil is the Vice President of Local 92 and is a Trustee and Executive Board Member for the Greater Northwest Ohio AFL-CIO.
Katie and Phil adopted their dog, Rosie, in 2021 from the Toledo Humane Society and walk her through their neighborhood and Close Park daily. Rosie loves making new friends and chasing squirrels.
Katie Moline is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and worked in the private sector as Senior Audit and Assurance Accountant. She was selected to the 2019 Class of Leadership Advance of the Ohio Society of CPAs, was a Woman in Leadership mentor at BGSU, and served as the chair of EPIC Toledo – the largest young professional organization in Northwest Ohio. In 2019, Katie was honored with the prestigious 20 under 40 Award. In 2020, Katie was selected as one of thirty Certified Public Accountants in the United States to join the prestigious American Institute of Certified Public Accounts (AICPA) Leadership Academy.
Appointed to Toledo City Council in 2020, Katie won her election to retain her seat later that year. While on City Council, she was able to combine her love of numbers and budgets with her passion for public service, and she chaired the Finance, Budget and Debt Oversight Committee. Katie created the "SMART Analysis" to ensure federal ARPA dollars were spent wisely and responsibly. She wrote the Toledo Municipal Code Section for the duties and responsibilities of the City Auditor. Most recently in 2023, Katie initiated sponsoring legislation for the Toledo Film Commission to be formally recognized by the State of Ohio Film Commission which will help bring more creative jobs to Toledo.
Katie was appointed as Lucas County Auditor in January of this year, and hit the ground running to serve all of Lucas County residents, business owners, vendors, and consumers. After serving Toledoans on Council to protect their tax dollars, Katie found her natural fit in the Auditor's office. From protecting your purchases at the pump, ensuring fairness between businesses and vendors, and assessing the value of your home, Katie is taking her experience as a CPA and serving Lucas County as your Auditor with integrity.
