Katie is the daughter of two public servants.  Her mom served as a Toledo Public School Teacher, specializing in Special Education where she retired after 35 years.  Her mom was also an active member of the Toledo Federation of Teachers, bringing Katie to the State Capitol for protests, showing her to never cross a picket line and walking in the Labor Day parade.  Her father served in the Finance Department for the City of Toledo where he retired after being Director Finance and Commissioner of the Budget.  His work as a CPA eventually inspired Katie to pursue the same career path.

Upon graduation, Katie moved home to Toledo to fulfill a dream of working for U.S. Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur.  While working Congresswomen Kaptur’s district office for five years, Katie focused on connecting our local community to programs, funds and agencies at the federal level and assisting constituents directly with various federal departments.  After serving as a Congressional Aide to U.S. Congresswoman Kaptur, Katie reinvented her career and became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).  Katie was selected to be in the 2019 Class of Leadership Advance of the Ohio Society of CPAs, has been a Woman in Leadership mentor at BGSU, and continues to be a member of the United Way Emerging Leaders and Women’s Initiative programs.   In 2019, Katie was honored with the prestigious 20 under 40 award that recognizes 20 individuals under the age of 40 who distinguish themselves in their community and career from over 200 nominees from northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.
